NSPCC Assembly and Workshop

15th Jan 2018

Today all the children in the school attended an assembly run by NSPCC. Article 19 states we have the right to be protected from abuse, violence and neglect. Article 12 states we have the right to express our opinions and views and the children were taught to Speak Out, Stay Safe.

All children face worries and it's important that they know there is always someone they can speak to. In school we can talk to the adults; especially Mr McGinley (designated teacher for child protection) or Mrs Treacy (deputy designated teacher for child protection). At home we can talk to trusted adults for help and advice. We can also call Childline. It is open all the time and is free to call, 0800 1111.

After the assembly, the Primary 6 and 7s had a workshop. They explored further about situations and what they would do. The most important message was to Speak Out, Stay Safe.
